A Rebellion is Brewing in the Central Kenya Region Against DP Ruto’s UDA Party.
A rebellion is in the offing in the central Kenya region against Deputy President’s United Democratic Alliance. A section of leaders led by Mwangi Kiunjuri told Ruto that they will not fold their parties to join UDA.
Mwangi Kiunjuri
The former agriculture cabinet secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri is adamant no party will fold to join UDA. He says the region must unite to discuss internal affairs before considering those coming to seek votes in the region.
“Before we start discussing the future, or the outsider’s agenda, we must first discuss our internal affairs. And we have decided that there’s no party that will fold, people should remain in their parties and let’s respect one another” He said
The central region party leaders have planned a mega meeting to be held on Tuesday 17, 2021. The meeting is meant to adopt a common position. Kiunjuri says they are willing to support anybody but their support is not guaranteed.
“We will vote for them, we will vote for them with respect but not by force,” he added
Anne Waiguru
Speaking in Nairobi, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, said that the region will speak in one voice, and they will not be in the opposition come 2022.
“Mount Kenya region will speak in one voice. And we will speak in one voice and have somebody on the table who will represent our economic and political interests,” She added.
Fatma Gedi
Wajir women representative Fatma Gedi, dismissed Ruto’s bottom-up economic model and wheelbarrow narrative saying that Wajir will not buy the wheelbarrow narrative.
“You see those camels in those photos [she pointed] that’s what we have. Those camels won’t be carried using a wheelbarrow,” she claimed.
Kipchumba Murkomen
Ruto allies have now directed their disappointments to President Uhuru Kenyatta. Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen said during a burial in Elgeyo Marakwet County, that the President planned to form a coalition with the opposition to elbow Ruto from the 2022 race.
“I saw the President bringing together NASA chiefs in the statehouse to plan elections. If they want to unite they should do so immediately. We in hustler nation are ready to vote for William Ruto not because of his tribe but because of his ideology,” he stated.
Deputy President has met different groups from the region with the opposition leader using the same approach. The duo are banking on central Kenya support to win the Presidential elections in 2022.
