Alfred Keter wins UDA ticket in Nandi Hills

Current Nandi Hills Member of Parliament has convincingly won the United Democratic Alliance ticket.

Alfred Keter wins UDA ticket by 10,273.

Keter who joined UDA party recently has been in loggerheads with the Deputy President. He emerged the winner by garnering 10,273 against his closest rival Bernard Kitur who managed 7,468 votes.

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi was dragged into the murky Nandi Hills politics after it emerged that he was pushing for Kitur.

Supporters of Alfred Keter accused him of trying to sabotage his win. They chanted “yote yawezekana bila Sudi” song as they condemned him for trying to interfere with the nominations.

Keter was firm after he was declared the winner. He said that he will not leave until his certificate was available.

“Let me put it on record that there are some people who had vowed to ensure that even if we win, we will not be given the interim certificate but we are not leaving here until we have it,” he had told his supporters earlier Tuesday.

Alfred Keter wins UDA ticket in Nandi Hills but what next?

The relationship between Keter and deputy president William Ruto has been a sour one.

Those close to the DP say that Keter waited until the deputy president was away so that he could join the dp’s side.

“In fact he waited until when the DP was away then he came pretending to be on our side, we feel like he the Azimio’s mole in UDA,” A source in UDA secretariat told www.krn.co.ke

Another source said that the DP wanted to manage Keter by allowing him to join UDA, but things didn’t work when the party decided to go for nominations instead of issuing direct tickets.

William Ruto’s headache is now how to manage losers. Already, Isaac Ruto has received a number of defectors from the UDA party.
