Allan Mayiek leading in Mt Elgon constituency MP race- polls
New entrant Allan Mayiek is giving the current Mt Elgon MP Fred Kapondi sleepless nights as polls show that he’s leading by 46%.
Allan comes from Kaptama Ward, a region which has unsuccessfully produced a worthy competitor in Mt. Elgon constituency.
Sources interviewed by Kenya Regional News team said that they were tired with leadership of threats and limited development.
Chelimo a resident of Kibuk area stated that the current MP had mastered the art of using threats to intimidate his opponents.
But Allan had showed that he can’t be cowed by such threats and he’s likely to clinch the UDA ticket in tomorrow’s nominations.
“He is used to threats, he does very little but this time around, he’s met his equal, Allan will win if the nominations will be fair and free,” she stated.
The nomination exercise that was slated for 14th April were marred by violence that led to postponement.
According to Mizani polls, Allan is seen as a vibrant leader and it placed him at 46% while Kapondi followed at 22%.
The constituency has witnessed voter bribery and intimidation that is aimed at instilling fear to voters.
It’s alleged that the current MP had planned to premark nomination papers in his favor but his plans were unsuccessful as Allan’s campaign team put up a tight vigilance.
