Twitter Allegations Circulate as President Museveni’s COVID-19 Isolation Raises Concerns
In a wave of social media speculation, Twitter users have claimed that powerful forces are orchestrating a plan to eliminate President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda.
These allegations come shortly after the President announced his self-isolation due to contracting COVID-19, following his signing of a controversial law that bans LGBTQ individuals in Uganda.
Comparisons have been drawn to the case of the late Tanzanian President Pombe Magufuli, with users suggesting that the virus is being exploited as a means to remove political leaders.
A user by the name of Kiprono (@onorpik) presumed that if Uganda’s president was to succumb to COVID-19-related complications, then the West should be blamed for it.
“If President Museveni passes away a month after signing the anti-LGBTQ bill into law, then for sure we are puppets of the West and they can who whatever they like with Africans. Magufuli’s death wouldn’t be so natural after all, given his anti-COVID sentiments.” He alleged.

These claims, although widely shared on social media platforms, lack substantiation and should be treated with caution.
Darren Vick Melly (@darrenvickmell3) claimed that the US had something to do with President Museveni’s illness.
“The US wants to finish Museveni because he is against LGBTQ we all know that”, he alleged
At present, there is no verifiable evidence to support the notion that external forces are involved in President Museveni’s illness or any planned assassination attempt.
Kenyan renowned musician, Daddy Owen, is among the prominent personalities who are asking questions about Museveni’s sickness.
He asked on Twitter: “Are they trying to Magufuli Museveni?’

President Yoweri Museveni, who has been in power since 1986, has faced significant criticism for his signing of the law that criminalizes homosexuality in Uganda.
The controversial legislation, known as the Anti-Homosexuality Act, was first signed in 2014 and has drawn international condemnation for its violation of human rights and discrimination against the LGBTQ community.

What they said:
Africizen (@Africizen): “Magufuli defies Covid 19 vaccines in Tanzania, few weeks he’s diagnosed and eventually dies of Covid 19. Museveni signs Anti LGBTQ bill in Uganda, a week after he’s diagnosed with Covid 19. This script is familiar and whatever the West are trying to do, they better stop.”

Ochieng (@its-fanuel): “I remember Magufuli when he defies the West(on COVID) the same propaganda was spread on his health and later he died, now it’s Museveni (he defied the West on the LGBTQ community) now they are trying to twist him. Hope he won’t end up like Magufuli …he is the ONLY remaining president who can face the West head-on…”
