Caleb Amisi who is the current Member of Parliament for the Saboti constituency described Musalia Mudavadi as a man with no ambition.

Amisi was referring to Mudavadi’s longest period in public service even rising to the post of Vice President yet he accepted the post which according to the MP doesn’t exist in the constitution.

“Musalia I am looking at your CV and I see that you became a minister in 1989 when I was three years old. You have served as a minister, Deputy President, and Vice President for over 30 years. I am now seated here as a second-term MP, vetting you for a position that doesn’t exist in our constitution. Does this portray you as a man who has no ambition?” Caleb Amisi asked Mudavadi.

Musalia Mudavadi third most powerful man

In September President William Ruto made Musalia Mudavadi the third most powerful person in his government through a gazette notice. In his address, the President said that Musalia will assist the President and DP in the coordination of government policies.

“Prime Cabinet Secretary will be Musalia Mudavadi who is the third most senior after President and DP. I have set out functions for that office. He will assist President and DP in the coordination of govt projects and supervise govt business in all Ministries,” President Ruto said.

Prime Cabinet Post is Unconstitutional

Prior to vetting, the opposition leaders had expressed their concerns about vetting Mudavadi. House minority leader, Opiyo Wandayi had challenged on vetting Musalia. He said that the position is not in the constitution.

“I am the one who brought to the attention of the Speaker that this position of Prime CS is not provided for in the Constitution. It is either they rename that position and give it another title because this one is not right because it is like creating another office,” he said.
