Barely two weeks have passed since the nation learned about the death of two Embu brothers killed by police. With investigations still ongoing, another incident is reported at Kayole six days after the Embu brothers were buried last week on Friday.
Angry residents of Kayole barricaded roads protesting against the killing of 38 years John Kiiru. It’s reported that John Kiiru died at the hands of Police officers who were on curfew enrollment patrol.

Kiiru made two calls to his wife before meeting his death. On his first call, he informed his wife that he had boarded a bodaboda and would be home in minutes. However, this never came to be.
Witness say that Kiiru had boarded a bodaboda heading home, however they were cornered by police officers at a junction. The police officers started harassing the two, luckily, the bodaboda rider sped off leaving Kiiru behind trying to rescue his life by fleeing on foot. Unfortunately, the police caught up with him beating him badly.
At 12:30 am in the morning Kiiru is said to have called his wife telling her that he was seriously injured. It’s also believed that the victim had captured the number plate of the police car which he sent to his wife through an SMS message.
Attempts by police officers to take Kiiru’s body from the scene were met with opposition for several minutes before they managed to do so. The residents demanded instant justice before they could let them take the body.
The anti-riot police tried to use force to acquire the body but they were overpowered by the rioting people.
The rate of police brutality in the nation is on the rise, Kenyans now want the government to take action against police who have gone berserk.
“People are dying the government is watching, why would someone kill because of curfew surely? It’s better to arrest and detain instead of killing,” a resident in Kayole said.
