Atwoli’s remarks after Mudavadi labeled him a clown

COTU boss Francis Atwoli has finally responded to Musalia’s scathing attack that labeled him a clown and a failure.

In a much-hyped event held at Bomas of Kenya, ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi said that Francis Atwoli had made the labor movement his cash cow. He stated that Atwoli enriches himself as workers suffer.

Mudavadi vowed that if he’s elected the fifth president of Kenya, he would ensure that the labor movement is going to be vibrant and it would gain its sense of purpose and respectability.

“COTU will not be a clownish cowboy club that labors for a few individuals. Under my watch, the labor movement is going to regain its sense of purpose and respectability as the middle house between employers and their employees” he stated

Francis Atwoli responded on Twitter stating that Mudvadi was being dishonest in his remarks, he stated that Mudavadi when he was the minister of finance in 1994, sneaked in a redundancy clause to the finance bill that allowed employers to fire employees without consulting them.

“Mudavadi, in 1994 while minister for finance, sneaked in the redundancy clause into the Finance Bill of 1994, as suggested by the World Bank, which allowed employees to declare redundancy without consulting workers. So how will he empower workers? And who told him he’s going to be president? Befriending Ruto is not the key to the presidency,” his tweet read.

He further accused Mudavadi of allowing Deputy President William Ruto to fund ANC’s NDC. He accused Mudavadi and Wetangula of turning their parties into political kiosks.

“He has ashamed the Luyhas by allowing Ruto to fund his NDC. As I said earlier, ANC and FORD-K are POLITICAL COMMERCIAL KIOSKS for Mudavadi and Wetangula. I will respond fully tomorrow.” He added.
