Details have emerged on why Ruto skipped Kuria’s homecoming

Deputy President William Ruto was a no-show during Moses Kuria’s thanksgiving ceremony held in Thika. Details have now emerged on why DP Ruto gave the event a wide berth.

Those close to the Gatundu South member of parliament have revealed that when the Deputy President visited Moses Kuria in Dubai, he tried to convince the legislator to join the hustler nation.

It’s alleged that Moses Kuria refused to join the DP side, he however gave conditions that the deputy president declined.

Moses Kuria told the Deputy President that he will only join the Kenya Kwanza alliance if he was willing to accommodate his party as equal partners the way he agreed to accommodate ANC and Ford-K parties.

The Chama Cha Kazi party leader had also demanded the Deputy President post if he was to join Kenya Kwanza, he insisted that Martha Karua was best placed to be Ruto’s DP a condition that Ruto didn’t agree to.

“They want us to join them, but they don’t want to meet even one of the conditions we gave them, are these people serious? After what we have seen happen at Jubilee party, we are not ready to fold our party,” He said.

Moses Kuria during his Thanksgiving ceremony held on Saturday, February 19, at the Thika Green Stadium, stated that UDA legislators were instructed by the Deputy President not to attend the Kuria’s meeting.

According to Kuria, he had sent invitations to dignitaries from all the political coalitions. He had expected DP Ruto and Raila Odinga to grace his event but the two embarked on their campaigns.

Ruto led his troops to Tharaka Nithi County where they held a series of political rallies. On his part, the ODM boss with his Azimio la Umoja brigade flew to the Kenyan coast for a four-day political tour.

In attendance were Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua, TSP’s Mwangi Kiunjuri, former Mukurweini member of parliament Kabando Wa Kabando, and Kiambu governor James Nyoro among other local politicians.

Kuria is yet to declare his support for either of the two presidential aspirants. He has said he would not be vying for any seat in the August 9 general election, shifting his focus to strengthening the CCK party.
