
Details of One Kenya Alliance held at Great Rift Valley lounge in Naivasha

The One Kenya Alliance leaders ended their first two-day meeting yesterday held at Great Rift lounge to discuss their future plans for the coalition.
OKA is the latest coalition in the nation made up of Ford Kenya, Wiper Democratic movement, Amani national Congress, and KANU. The majority of the OKA alliance leaders are former NASA principals.
Presidency
The One Kenya Alliance claimed that they will field a presidential candidate in the next year’s general election.
“The one Kenya Alliance will field a presidential candidate in next year’s election,” Kitutu Chache MP Richard Onyoka said.
The four however have not shared a clear method of picking a presidential candidate. Senator Malala said they are consulting on who will become the coalition’s flagbearer.
“We do not have a timeline, but in due course, we are going to announce the flagbearer of One Kenya Alliance,” He said.
Naisula Lesuuda, MP Samburu West stated that they would support whoever would be selected as the flagbearer.
“We are solidly behind our principals, and whoever they will give us, we will back him fully until the end. And those who have been telling us to be organized or we will be organized, what’s their problem? They should let OKA be.” She said.
Sources within the OKA alliance said that the principals were waiting for the verdict of court before settling on the flagbearer. The court is set to rule on BBI Bill on 20th August 2021.
Technical committe
The two-day retreat is set to review the recommendation of its technical committee trusted with drafting strategies on how they will secure positions come to the 2022 general election. It’s also believed that there is an evaluation to determine the strength of each principal and what combination will gather lots of votes.
Agendas include drafting of coalition constitution and manifestos. There is also a team created to spearhead the presidential national campaign.
Upcoming nomination
Speaking after the meeting, the ANC leader stated that they were preparing aspirants for the upcoming nominations.
“We are preparing our aspirants for the coming nominations to secure slots for Members of Parliament, Governors, Senators, Members of County Assembly, and even Women Representative.” He said.
Nevertheless, the coalition has said that their doors are open for any party to join them. This would even strengthen the coalition.
When asked about their relationship with ODM Party leader Raila Odinga, Wetangula said that “He is not part of OKA at least for now.”
“I don’t want to speak about someone who is not present with us here. I would just plead with you to bear with us and wait for our outcome from the discussion,” Musalia Mudavadi added.
