Francis Kimemia in hot soup for the “deep state” utterances.
Nyandarua County Governor Francis Kimemia has found himself in hot soup after making intriguing claims about the deep state.
Kimemia’s deep state claim
The former head of public service under Kibaki’s administration and a cabinet secretary under President Uhuru’s alleged that the Kenyan election was majorly influenced by the interests of the elite and that the elites which form the deep state decide the elections for Kenyans.
“We’re forgetting also the international angle, this country has a lot of interest from the international, and they also influence a lot. I can assure you, from where I sat, they influence a lot…in many ways that I can’t discuss here. So if they combine with the Deep State, you can be sure your goose is cooked,” he stated.
Kimemia during an interview with Citizen TV Kenya stated further that for the deep state to rig in a candidate, he or she must be electable.
“If you have two candidates at the rate of 50-50, and the Deep State backs one, you can be sure that one will win. The candidate must be credible and electable, that becomes very important if the Deep State is to support a candidate,” said Kimemia.
Adan Keynan take
However, Eldas Member of Parliament, Adan Keynan, has dismissed Kimemia’s sentiments saying that it was creating non-existent fear among Kenyans.
He added that Kimemia’s remarks will fuel and animosity among the political class, he further claimed that admitting the existence of the deep state was misleading and could create fear among Kenyans.
“The remarks that were made by Governor Kimemia were reckless, untimely, and unhelpful in the preparations of the General Election in 2022, people should not count on the support of the “deep state”, they should count on the votes of Kenyans,” stated Keynan.
Ngunjiri’s on Mama Ngina
Bahati Member of Parliament, Kimani Ngunjiri, published a video on Facebook on Friday, September 24 linking Kenya’s founding First lady, Mama Ngina Kenyatta, President Uhuru’s mother of plotting Deputy President’s downfall.
Ngunjiri claimed that Mama Ngina was the brains behind that handshake that brought together President Uhuru Kenyatta and his arch-rival Raila Odinga.
The MP further argued that the Kenyatta family was using the handshake as a way of destroying the Deputy President politically.
Kimemia’s sentiments come at a time that political temperatures have started rising.
Ruto’s claim
In August 2020 while meeting a section of leaders from Kajiado at his Karen residence, deputy president William Ruto confirmed the existence of the “Deep State”.
He said that he is ready to face the “deep state” claiming that he has a huge following and God.
“We are being threatened that there is a system called deep state, that even if we vote peacefully they will steal the votes, there are people seated somewhere waiting for the deep state, I want to tell them that we have the people and God,” Ruto said.
