Meru County Governor Kiraitu Murungi was on the receiving end when he attended a church service in Meru County.
A viral video shows that Kiraitu’s wife was given a chance to address the congregants, in her speech, she asked the residents present whether they had noticed the development her husband had initiated in the region. The crowd shouted “hatujaona” ( we have not seen)
“let me ask you one thing, your governor is standing here, have you seen what he has done? You have not seen? You will vote for him ? So even he doesn’t have any vote? Let him address you,” she stated.
Realizing that the crowd had completely disapproved her husband’s track record, she invited Kiraitu to address the church.
Governor Kiraitu urged the congregants not to embarrass him in presence of his wife.
“The one who was speaking is my wife. In Meru tradition, you cannot embarrass the husband in presence of his wife. when the wife is around the husband is given respect, but you can tell everything when the wife is not around,” Governor Kiraitu stated.
Kiraitu joined Azimio La Umoja that has settled on ODM leader Raila Odinga as the movement’s presidential candidate.
