How DCI arrested the prime suspect in the killings of the four Kitengela men.
Ole Mungai arrest
The DCI sleuths led an intense search of the prime suspect who masterminded the murder of the four adults in Kitengela.
According to a source in DCI, the prime suspect, Ole Mungai was hiding in Kitengela town with the help of the locals.
The DCI traced the suspect’s phone signal to Kitengela town. At the point of his arrest, the suspect is said to have taken off in an effort to avoid arrest.
According to police, Ole Mungai was positively linked to the murder of the four after forensic investigations placed him at the scene of the crime. It was later established that he was the ringleader who coordinated the killing of the four.
DCI through their Twitter handle confirmed that the suspect had been arrested.
“The prime suspect behind last week’s grisly blood-curdling murder of four men in Kitengela has been arrested by detectives. Benson Melonyie ole Mungai, 40, was arrested from his hideout in Kitengela town last evening, where he has been hiding since he masterminded the killings.” The statement reads in part.
Mistaken identity
On Saturday 8th of August, the death of the four shocked the nation. The four were murdered due to mistaken identity, they were mistaken to be cattle rustlers in the area.
Amongst those who succumbed were victor’s elder brother Fred Mureithi 30, two cousins Mike George 29, and Nicholas 28 years.
Two of the four were brothers. They lived in Syokimau in a home put up with help of their mother, Lucy Wanjiru.
Lucy, a businesswoman relocated to the United Kingdom to further her business interest after building a classic home for her children.
Public outcry
The public, close friends, and family have been pressurizing the government for quick justice to the four.
Yesterday the DCI and DPP assured the nation that they will do everything in their power to make sure that justice is served.
Currently, the prime suspect is in custody helping the DCI and police to find the rest of the people involved in the murder.
