“I’m the only option for Raila to name as DP,” Kalonzo Musyoka declares.
Things are not looking good in the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya alliance as Kalonzo Musyoka declares that he must be Raila’s running mate.
“You can’t wish the person that I have been deputising since 2013 to be President and leave me out,” Kalonzo stated while addressing the media.
A section of leaders allied to Raila Odinga, have dismissed Kalonzo’s saying that he was bringing confusion.
Francis Atwoli who is a key ally of Raila Odinga warned that Kalonzo was bringing so many conditions that might make Raila Odinga think twice.
“I know Kalonzo Musyoka as an important figure in the coalition and he should focus on building confidence and make people vote for the Azimio-OKA coalition. Too many conditions will make someone who was to give him deputy president position think twice and give someone else” Francis Atwoli stated.
On his part, senator Ole Kina stated that whoever wants to be Raila’s deputy should show his political might.
“Whoever wants to deputize Raila Odinga should show us his/her mighty in rallying votes across the country (based on issues) this Biashara ya Entitlement is ill advised. We want progressive leaders :-willing to sacrifice for Kenya … tuwache Vipindi” Senator Ledama Olekina.
Mount Kenya leaders have also demanded to be given deputy President slot saying that the community had sacrificed a lot in selling Raila’s candidature to the the unwilling people.
Lee Kinyanjui, Martha Karua, Peter Munya, Peter Kenneth, and Sabina Chege are the key contenders from Mt. Kenya for the Deputy President slot.
In what seemed to dismiss the decision to have a panel choose a deputy president for Raila, Kalonzo said that the decision will be decided by him, President Kenyatta, and Raila Odinga.
Kalonzo’s allies have also come out to push for DP slot in Azimio coalition.

Makueni MP Dan Maanzo stated that the Deputy President must come from OKA coalition and it must be Kalonzo Musyoka.
“Our position as Wiper party is that Deputy President must come from wiper party or OKA coalition, and should be one Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka,” he stated
These uncertainties come a day after the electoral body IEBC set a deadline for unveiling the coalitions deputy presidents.
IEBC gave Raila Odinga and DP William Ruto ten (10) days to unveil their running mates.
