Melilla Massacre claims over 37 lives, hundreds left injured

Melilla Massacre: Reports released by UNHCR indicate that at least 37 immigrants have been killed and hundreds left injured when they tried to cross the Moroccan border into Melilla on Friday.

Majority of those who perished are said to have come from Chad, Niger, Sudan and South Sudan. According to World Socialist Web Site, the group were considered potential asylum seekers.

According to a footage released by Al Jazeera and verified by Kenya Regional news, masses of people were seen lying on the floor. Some might have died from suffocation or a stampede provoked by the Moroccan police.

Algiers, June 27 (Prensa Latina) Algeria condemned what it described as a massacre by Morocco of migrants from sub-Saharan countries who tried to cross the fence that separates its territory from the Spanish city of Melilla last Friday.

In another clip, a Moroccan police was captured striking a person lying on the ground with a baton, the scary video left a number of people bleeding and lifeless.

The Melilla massacre has shocked the world, humanitarian bodies are now calling for investigations.
