ODM Leader Wants Offshore Accounts Investigated After Pandora Papers Leak
Orange Democratic Movement leader, Raila Odinga, has shared his thoughts concerning the ongoing debate over the leaked secret documents christened the Pandora Papers. The report exposed the first family’s (Kenyatta family) offshore accounts and assets.
Raila Odinga while speaking in a joint meeting that brought together a number of vernacular stations on Wednesday, October, 5, said that investigation should be done to ascertain the purpose of having offshore accounts.
He further stated that there’s nothing wrong with having an offshore account so long as one can explain how they opened such accounts. He added that it shouldn’t be an avenue to hide corrupt money.

“I don’t think there is anything wrong with having offshore accounts if you can explain how you opened it. I don’t have such accounts but they shouldn’t be a way of hiding corruption money,” he stated.
Raila further stated that he was waiting for the President to divulge more information on the offshore wealth as he promised.
President Uhuru shared a brief statement before leaving the country, he promised to respond comprehensively after he returns from his visit to the Americas.
“My attention has been drawn to comments surrounding the Pandora Papers. Whilst I will respond comprehensively on my return from my State Visit to the Americas,” President Kenyatta said in a statement.
He added that the big reveal will expose those who cannot explain the source of their wealth.
“The Pandora Papers and subsequent follow-up audits will lift that veil of secrecy and darkness for those who cannot explain their assets or wealth.” He added.
The family of President Uhuru Kenyatta was exposed in the Pandora Papers leak that uncovered a network of secret offshore companies owned by the first family. The papers termed the exposé a huge leak of financial papers.
The massive exposé revealed that the first family has for years been accumulating wealth stashed in offshore accounts.
