Deputy President William Ruto has played down the crafting down of a coalition seemingly to elbow him out of the 2022 race.

Selfish interests

Speaking during a consultative meeting at his Karen residence where he met grassroots leaders from Ruiru constituency, Ruto termed the meeting convened by President Uhuru Kenyatta at Statehouse Mombasa selfish and inconsequential.

“Now they are camped in the statehouse, not to help Uhuru Kenyetta deliver to 45 million Kenyans, but they have gone there for their selfish agenda of sharing positions and sharing of power,” he stated.

Big four agenda abandoned

Ruto added that the former NASA chiefs had forcefully captured the government making President Uhuru Kenyatta abandon the big four agenda.

“It cannot be our competitors and our good friends from NASA, they abandon the opposition, invaded our government, destroyed our party, and sabotaged the big four plan that was to benefit ordinary people, ordinary farmers, changed our priority and brought a selfish agenda to change the constitution,”

The self-declared hustler further claimed that the ODM leader and his counterparts were pushing President Uhuru to turn against him.

“And d they are so shameless that they are going to a man that they have never supported, they have never voted for, they never supported him deliver his agenda. They have gone there for selfish reasons, And they expect that Uhuru Kenyatta will help them so that they can work against us, who campaigned, supported, and voted for Uhuru Kenyatta,” he added.

tough decisions

Ruto is facing tough decisions as he tries to consolidate his Mt. Kenya support. Already, a number of his trusted allies seem to be reading from a different script.

Moses Kuria and former agriculture cabinet secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri, have vowed to unite and form a regional party. It’s not yet clear if the deputy president will enter into a coalition with Kiunjuri’s TSP party.

“Our unity as Mt. Kenya, nobody should take it for granted. No one should think that you can split us to their advantage. As leaders we will sit down and craft a package,” Kiunjuri stated as he championed for Mt. Kenya unity.

The president has declared his support for opposition leader Raila Odinga, a move that could elbow the Deputy president from mount Kenya.
