Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance could be in trouble in Rift Valley as residents demand millions. Ruto’s supporters claim that the Deputy President has neglected the region while he’s out dishing millions.
In a statement, Kiptanui, a resident in Eldoret said that they also want to benefit from Ruto’s millions just like the other regions. He noted that they support the Deputy President’s presidential bid in 2022 but they will also want to be empowered.

“We are not saying that we will not vote for him but we also want to be part of the empowerment programs we hear about, he has not yet come to empower us here at home, we have waited and we are still waiting. He’s our son,” He noted
Agnes, who runs a small Kiosk also said that they’re eagerly waiting for the Deputy President to visit the area and empower them just the way he’s doing in other regions.
“We know he is trying to consolidate votes from other regions of the country, we only ask him not to forget us also, we also need to benefit from him,
We have a number of mama mbogas and small traders here in Eldoret, we ask him to come and empower also, but my vote is his, and that I am sure” She stated
Deputy President while on a two days tour to Meru donated Sh14 million to residents during his stopovers.
The move to generously donate money has raised eyebrows, his competitors are now asking questions as to where the DP gets his millions from.
ODM leader Raila Odinga is among those who argue that the Deputy President is corrupt and he’s using money from public coffers to bribe voters.
During one of his rallies, Raila wondered where the Deputy President get his money noting that even Safaricom can not afford to make such donations and stay afloat.
“Every month, he donates Sh100 million in fundraising and donations to various groups and churches, and his salary is known, Sh2 million. Where is he getting the money he is dishing out? Even Safaricom cannot afford to make such donations and still stay afloat,” Raila said.
