This is why Davis Chirchir, the alleged IEBC hacker, is back in the headlines.
Davis Chirchir, the man who has been making headlines for his alleged IT expertise, is yet again trending. The August 2017 presidential results were nullified by the Supreme Court after a spirited defense by the opposition.
Chirchir’s name was mentioned by the opposition, who accused him of tampering with the servers to ensure that the Jubilee Party won the elections.

The August general elections are fast approaching, and the Kenya Kwanza coalition are now relying on Chirchir to play a key role in safeguarding Ruto’s votes.
The Azimio La Umoja coalition are now reading mischief as the polls approach. The Raila-led side has insisted on the hard manual register in case the electronic system fails. On their part, IEBC said that they will not use the hard copy register in the August polls.
Those close to Azimio are now claiming that IEBC might have given the Kenya Kwanza a leeway to manipulate polls.
A source at Azimio secretariat said that they were reading malice in how the election preparations are being handled. He alleged that some of the IEBC officials were befriending Ruto’s side, hence giving them advantage.
“We know some of them are meeting Ruto’s side at night. What are they meeting to discuss if it’s not the polls? These guys must use the manual register, we don’t trust the electronic system,” he noted.
According to the Daily Nation, Ruto’s running mate claimed that they are ready for the August polls.
“The situation is bad for them. All their traditional bases, like Coast, Western and Ukambani have shifted in our favour. They have all the reasons to look for scapegoats in the voting system,” he said.
Chirchir worked with the Interim Independent Electoral Commission (IIEC) as Information Technology director.
