Tinder Date Turns into a Nightmare: Thika Man Robbed of All Possessions While Partying

THIKA, Kenya – In a shocking turn of events, a young man from Thika was left devastated after a woman he met on the popular dating app Tinder allegedly stole all his belongings from his house while he was out partying.

The victim, identified as Kimathi, had recently moved into a modest house in a tranquil neighborhood of Thika. Seeking companionship and romance, he turned to Tinder, hoping to find a genuine connection. However, what seemed like a promising encounter quickly turned into a nightmare.

Inviting her to his house

Kimathi’s interaction with the woman, known only as Fiona, progressed rapidly from online chats to face-to-face meetings. Initially, the chemistry between them appeared genuine, and they planned to spend an evening together. Unbeknownst to Kimathi, this rendezvous would lead to the ultimate betrayal.

“We met on a dating app, she looked genuine, and we even exchanged numbers. She used an Airtel number. we met in a joint in Thika town, after several meetups I decided to invite her to my place,” Kimathi told Kenya Regional News.

While Kimathi was out partying with friends, enjoying a much-needed break from his daily routine, Fiona allegedly took advantage of his absence and executed a meticulously planned heist. She allegedly emptied the house of all valuable possessions, including electronics, furniture, and sentimental items, leaving behind an empty shell in her wake.

“That fateful day, we had a party for one of my friends who had landed a good job in the county, I had invited her but she said that she was not feeling well, she said it was okay and I left her in the house,” He continued.

The next morning, at around 3 AM, Kimathi returned home, eagerly anticipating the continuation of his promising romance. However, the excitement quickly turned to shock and despair as he discovered the devastating scene before him—a house completely stripped of its contents, as if a tornado had swept through, leaving only emptiness in its wake.

Conning syndicate

Investigations into the shocking theft have taken a surprising turn, revealing that Fiona, the woman Kimathi met on Tinder, may be part of a larger syndicate specializing in conning unsuspecting individuals. Law enforcement officials suspect that Fiona’s actions were not isolated but rather part of a well-orchestrated scheme to deceive and rob innocent victims.

According to residents around Thika town, Fiona’s charm and manipulative tactics were carefully designed to gain the trust of her targets. It is suspected that she was specifically targeting individuals who appeared vulnerable or had valuable possessions in their homes.

Startling new evidence has emerged in the case, painting a chilling picture of Fiona and her associates’ criminal activities. Investigations suggest that the syndicate not only targeted individuals through online platforms but also operated within Thika’s bustling nightlife scene. Reports indicate that Fiona and her friends would frequent clubs and bars, searching for potential victims to exploit.

“It’s common, people get drugged on a daily basis, it’s hard to tell if these people are together or not since we get a lot of ravers so it’s not possible to isolate such characters,” Club manager in Thika noted.

According to eyewitness accounts and survivor testimonies, Fiona and her accomplices would strategically identify vulnerable targets, often individuals who appeared intoxicated or unsuspecting. Once they had selected their victim, they would employ a sinister tactic of drugging their target’s drink, rendering them helpless and susceptible to manipulation.

The victims, in their compromised state, would then be lured into a false sense of security by Fiona’s charm and companionship. They would unwittingly invite her and her friends to their homes, completely unaware of the impending danger. It was during these moments of vulnerability that the syndicate would strike, swiftly ransacking the premises and leaving the victim in a state of shock and devastation.
