Tough times ahead as fuel prices could rise up to Ksh 173 per litre

Kenyans could be in for another shocker if the government decides to withdraw the fuel subsidy.

Already indications are showing that the only option to bring stability to the petroleum industry is by raising fuel prices.

EPRA is expected to announce the new fuel prices that will the be effective by today midnight. This comes after Rubis boss was deported for allegedly hoarding fuel.

Fuel shortage continued to persist as motorists queued at petrol stations across the country

The petroleum ministry has stated that the subsidy is not sustainable. The ministry also noted that while it has been paying marketers, the subsidy will never be the long term solution.

A source at EPRA who didn’t want to be named stated that fuel prices could go up to Ksh 173 per litre for petrol. At the same time the price of diesel could also retail at ksh 160 in Nairobi. More to follow…
