Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has now called for Jubilee’s Secretary-General ouster. Ngunjiri accused Tuju of bypassing the party organs in choosing Jubilee aspirant in the Kiagu MCA seat.
In a message posted on his Facebook post, Ngunjiri says that some leaders including Raphael Tuju must be changed if the party had to survive.
“Today Raphael Tuju, one of the people we were told needs to be changed as a Party leader if Jubilee is to survive – without consulting anyone in the party’s political wing that was involved in the recent by-elections (and the people putting their political careers on the line for the party) decided to go against our Post-Kiambaa agreement and issue a certificate to field a Jubilee candidate in Kiagu, Meru,
This is despite the fact that the former Kiagu MCA was NOT a member of Jubilee. (She was actually in Maendeleo Chap Chap). This means that we – as the Jubilee Party – lose nothing in not fielding a candidate in this by-election. This is unacceptable to those of us working to rebuild this Party. We demand that this decision immediately be rescinded.” He said.
The MP claimed that they had reached an agreement after losing Kiambaa parliamentary seat to the UDA party. He says they were going to change the leadership of the party in what he called lessons learned in Kiambaa.
“When we finished the Kiambaa by-elections, we had a post-mortem meeting at Jubilee headquarters, all of us in that meeting – including the SG and David Murathe agreed that we would not field a candidate in any by-election in mount Kena, until we had implemented lessons learned,” He added.
He however said that the Tuju was no longer working to further the interests of the Jubilee Party but working to disconnect the party from its followers.
“However and more importantly this decision confirms the fact that Hon Raphael Tuju is clearly completely disconnected from the Jubilee base. It also lends credence to fears that Tuju is no longer working in the interests of the Party,
In this regard and after consultations with those of us who continue to sacrifice blood sweat and tears to revive our party, we have agreed that we will NOT allow Tuju to deliberately kill our Party. Not while we watch,” his Facebook post read.
Ngunjiri’s accusations come a week after Jubilee Party entered a pre-election coalition agreement with the ODM party.
