Wewe ni Kijana wa Moi, apologise for his mistakes Gachagua tells Lee

Deputy President William Ruto’s running mate Rigathi Gachagua has distanced himself from the crimes orchestrated to Molo people during Moi’s era.

Gachagua while campaigning for Kenya Kwanza said that he has never worked in Molo as a District Officer.

“Since when I was employed in 1989, it’s good to say where I have worked, 1989 I worked in the Ministry of Home Affairs, 1990 I was in Kirinyaga, 1992 I was in the office of the President as a personal assistant, 1993 I was in Kiambaa, 1996 in Limuru, 1997 in Kakamega, 1998 I was in Laikipia from there in 2002 I became Uhuru Kenyatta’s personal assistant. I have never worked here in Molo,” He said.

He shifted blame to Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui, he told him to visit the people of Molo and apologize for the troubles caused to the people of Molo under Moi’s regime.

UDA’s running mate alleged that Lee Kinyanjui is late President Moi’s child and therefore he should apologise to the people for the sins that happened when his father was the commander in chief.

“Lee is telling us to come and apologize, we can’t do that since there’s nothing wrong we did. Lee Kinyanjui should come to Molo to apologize because his father was the Commander in Chief when the people of Molo were suffering,” Gachagua told the people of Molo during a campaign.

He added that Lee Kinyanjui wanted him to avoid Molo so that he could avoid mentioning the skyrocketing costs of living.

“Leave me alone, you thought that you will incite these people against me, he wanted me to avoid coming so that I don’t speak about the rising prices of Unga,” He added.

In a statement on Tuesday, Kinyanjui said the apology is one of the things survivors of his tenure as District officer in Molo have requested from him.

“During the tour, several suggestions have been raised by members of the public. Your kind consideration will be greatly appreciated. The first is a ‘public apology’ to the people of Molo for the commissions and omissions during his tenure as the dreaded DO,” he said.
