A clip has emerged online showing how Soy MP Caleb Kositany urged the Nandi not to vote a Kipsigis. He was speaking at a function in 2018 where he told elders to go and take Alfred Keter back to his home because he felt that Kipsigis should not lead in Nandi.
“If Keter was Nandi, we would summon Nandi elders to talk to him, unfortunately he’s Kipsigis therefore we’re calling upon his Kipsigis elders to come take him ,have a talk with him on matters discipline and return him here” Caleb Kositany said.

The sentiments which has resurfaced three years later has caused an online uproar with majority condemning it.
A user by the name Abraham Mutai accused DP Ruto saying that he will never want a Kipsigis to rise since they control the majority of the Kalenjin vote.
“William Ruto, a Nandi, will never want any Kipsigis leader to rise. He will NEVER. Kipsigis is the largest voting block among the Kalenjin’s various dialects. A Kipsigis leader controlling the Kipsigis vote will be a threat to William Ruto,” his tweet read in part.

The sentiments made by the legislator comes weeks after Alfred Keter was denied UDA ticket.
