When it comes to online trolls, Kenyans are the champions. Charlene Ruto, the daughter of President William Ruto, has found herself in the spotlight; she has been trending on Twitter as “Quickmart Ivanka.”
Why quickmart Ivanka?
Ivanka is former President Donald Trump’s daughter, and when Trump became president, her daughter Ivanka was everywhere trying to market her products. At some point, Americans started questioning her role in Trump’s administration.
Quickmart is a supermarket in Kenya that has opened branches in every county in the country. Just like Quickmart and Ivanka, Charlene Ruto is seen as playing a hidden role in President Ruto’s administration. She has made many trips across the country, hence the name “Quickmart Ivanka.”

Yesterday, Charlene was trending again on Twitter after making claims that she used to sell smokies while she was still studying at Daystar University. Kenyans didn’t believe her, even those who were present dismissed her claims.
“Kenyans are not fools, you’re lying,” a lady was heard responding to Charlene Ruto while she was making a speech about her smokie business.
Charlene has made over ten trips to counties and government offices. Kenyans are left wondering what her role is in Ruto’s government.
